Cottage Life: A beginner's baguette
There's something nice about a magazine. It means it's time to put your feet up, enjoy a cuppa, and scan the just-right-mixture of photo and text to whatever topic tickles your fancy. Just ask my mum, who has stacks of Hello and Good Food at home, and gets me subscriptions to Canadian Living , Style at Home , and Chatelaine . A more recent find is The Simple Things , which suddenly has you yearning to quit your day job and start a small holding or take up a new hobby like wild flower foraging. Perhaps it was the draw to a slower way of living that this last magazine encourages, and the fact that I was at a cottage where I had a little extra time on my hands (thanks to the presence of extra helping hands), but I thought of trying something I had never done before - bread! - and a baguette at that.
